The Boston Classical Guitar Society (BCGS) Artist Series is proud to present The Murray/King Guitar Duo. Formed in 2000, the husband and wife duo of Kathrin Murray and Troy King have performed to critical acclaim at concert venues in New York, Baltimore, Honolulu, Hawaii, and England. With a repertoire spanning many stylistic periods and cultures, their performances are imbued with a passionate commitment to bringing the music alive.

Having performed in the United States and Europe, Ms. Murray has been featured as a guest artist at the Charlton Kings International Guitar Festival (England), on the BBC, and at the Dutch and Finnish Embassies in Washington, DC. She has won the Rising Stars Recital Competition, and has received the Levine Faculty Development Grant, the Peabody Career Development Grant, the Bowdoin Summer Music Festival's Performing Associate Award, and has been a two-time recipient of the Levine Performance Grant. Also a sought-after teacher, Ms. Murray teaches at the Bryn Mawr School in Baltimore, MD and the Levine School of Music in Washington, DC. She holds a Master's Degree from the Peabody Conservatory of Music, and a Bachelor's degree from the Lamont School of Music of the University of Denver.




With a reputation as an inspired, technically refined performer, guitarist Troy King is widely recognized as an artist who brings an intense, passionate commitment to his art, and who is able to emotionally connect with audiences. Troy King regularly performs concerts throughout the United States, Europe, and Latin America. He has been heard on the BBC and frequently on National Public Radio in both the United States and Spain. Troy won First Prize at the Fifth Portland Guitar Festival International Guitar Competition. Other honors include winning First Prizes at the Lamont Chamber Music Competition and the Montpelier Recitalist Competition, and being a finalist in the IV Manuel Ponce International Guitar Competition in Mexico City. Mr. King holds degrees from the Cleveland Institute of Music and the University of Denver, and teaches classical guitar and guitar ensembles at Towson University.
