BY THE RIVER: WOMAN'S VOICES IN JEWISH STORIES |
|
Jewels, pomegranate seeds and tambourines
Girls who speak what they know, women meeting by the river, a princess in moonlight, onions worth diamonds, and wise women who lead us to freedom. In these new twists on traditional Jewish folktales and midrashim, Cindy Rivka Marshall tells stories with women and girls as the main characters, and that speak from womens hearts and minds. Storyteller Cindy Rivka Marshall uses movement and song in a theatrical style that encourages audiences to participate and experience the stories. Her critically acclaimed recording, Challah and Latkes: Stories for Shabbat and Hanukkah, won a Storytelling World Honor Award and a National Parenting Publications Award. The folktales and original stories she tells hold universal lessons and performances resonate with a sense of wonder and respect for all.
