The Real Stormin' Norman (Norman Smiler Zamcheck) is a pianist, singer-songwriter storyteller whose music rocks with a blues/New Orleans beat. Norm has been performing on and off since he graduated Yale in literature and decided to dedicate himself to songwriting, working clubs and colleges in the northeast. His sound has been loosely described as boogie woogie meets twelve-tone, although he primarily sees himself as a bar pianist in the mode of the 30’s “juke joint” masters. He has worked countless bars between New York City and Boston. Originally from Boston, his musical travels have taken him to Carnegie Hall, Los Angeles, Europe and Israel, a major record deal and reviews in the New York Times, Rolling Stone and other media.

He has recorded three albums: two with the great California singer Suzy Williams (with whom he continues to perform as "Stormin' Norman & Suzy") and a solo project (the Real Stormin' Norman/EveryOne Tells a Story) His next project, Matchbook Universe, will be released in the fall. In addition he toured and recorded with the clarinet and mandolin virtuoso Andy Statman (Vassar Clements), performing klezmer music. He appears regularly in New York City with the Stormin’ band, as well as solo. His prime influences include Mose Allison, Otis Span, Thelonious Monk, Dr John most of 60's - 70's rock and the great folk music he heard as a kid.
