DIRECTIONS FROM PORTER SQUARE, CAMBRIDGE:

If you are coming down Mass. Ave. from Arlington, when you get to the Porter Square T stop (big flying red sculpture) (also Porter Square Shopping Center is on your left), take the left hand fork at that set of lights onto Somerville Ave. instead of staying straight on Mass. Ave. Follow Somerville Ave. towards Union Square. Pass a Market Basket Supermarket on the right. Soon thereafter the street turns into a one way street the way you are going, and the street numbers are in the triple digits. Pass New Asia Chinese Restaurant on the right. Soon thereafter, the street numbers turn to the double digits inexplicably. The Studio is at #33 (not 33 and 1/2), on the right, a glass door with 33 on it and a hand-painted yellow sign hanging in it saying Third Life Studio, in between the store fronts of Elegant Furniture (to the left of the door) and G&T Custom Tailoring (to the right of the door) in a brick and green trim building across from the new East Boston Savings Bank (currently under renovation). The door is just about where there is the first stoplight in Union Square. You have gone too far if you go through that light. If you get lost, just ask directions--you want to be on Somerville Ave., coming into Union Square from Porter Square, Cambridge.

FROM CENTRAL SQUARE, CAMBRIDGE:

Coming from the river on Mass Ave, turn right at the stoplight at Prospect Street (the heart of Central Square). Go several blocks, through several lights, and pass a Hess gas station on your left (at Inman Square). Continue straight on Prospect Street which takes you into Union Square. Once you are almost in Union Square, the street turns oneway the way you are going; get into your lefthand lane and take a left turn at the 4-way intersection stoplight onto Somerville Ave. (Dunkin Donuts is on your immediate left corner, SCAT is on your far left corner, and Ricky's Flower Mart is on your far right corner.) Stay in the left lane or second lane from the left. Go straight at the next set of lights at the center of Union Square (continuing on, the street turns into Washington Street). Take your first right onto a small side street called Hawkins. Go to the end of it (one curvy block) and turn right, back onto Somerville Ave. (now going a different way on it). The Studio is in that block on the right. At first the street numbers are in the triple digits, but soon turn to double digits inexplicably. FROM 93 HEADING SOUTH Towards Boston:

93S to exit 30 (Mystic Ave., Somerville). Turn left at lights at end of exit ramp onto South 38. Turn right at 2nd light (St. Polycarp Church) onto Temple Street. It curves slightly to the left, and ends on Broadway at a light. Turn right and immediately get into left hand turn lane and turn left at lights onto School Street (between 2 banks). Go through 3 lights (and up and down a hill)- it ends on Somerville Ave. Turn left. Follow Somerville Ave. towards Union Square (you are only a few blocks away at this point). Pass a Market Basket Supermarket on the right. Soon thereafter the street turns into a one way street the way you are going, and the street numbers are in the triple digits. Pass New Asia Chinese Restaurant on the right. Soon thereafter, the street numbers turn to double digits inexplicably.
